Overview
Dedicated to Panagia (the Virgin Mary), the monastery possesses one of three icons
attributed to Agios Loukas (Apostle Luke) the Evangelist. The icon - covered in silver gilt
- is in a shrine made of tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl that stands in front of the
iconostasis.
Cedar Valley is nestled within Pafos Forest, and is distinctive for its thousands of endemic
Cedrus brevifolia species (Cedar trees), which is a close relative of the famous cedars of
Lebanon. There are also some Calabrian pines - Pinus brutia in the valley, which is popular
for its peaceful seclusion.
What to expect (Intinerary)
1. Leaving Limassol or Paphos morning time (1.5 hr driving)
2. Visit Kykkos monastery and museum (1hr)
3. Continue to Throni and spectacular view of forests and mountains (1hr)
4. Visit Pedoulas village and taste traditional Cypriot meze (1.5 hr)
5. Continue into the deep of Cedar valley, breath nice weather and walking (1.5 hr)
6. Go ahead to Paphos region and come back to Limassol
